Taka M (taka)
The main characters of this movie are Paikea, Paka, Rawiri, Hemi, the grandmother and the father of Paikea. Paikea is a girl who has a legend any ancestor. People say that he came there by riding a whale “Paikea.” Paka is grandfather of Paikea who is leader of the village. Rawiri is uncle of Paikea who is so weight and second son of Paka. Father of Paikea is a first son of Paka. Hemi is a friend of Paikea. They are all Maori.
At the beginning of the movie, Paikea and her twin brother are born. But he and her mother both die soon after she gave birth to them. It is only firstborn son for Paikea’s family. So Paka is so shocked and depressed. And he hates Paikea at the first. But when she gets grows up and become a student of a primary school, Paka and he have a good friendship. Paikea lives with her grandfather and grandmother. He always took her to school by bike, and she goes back home with him too.
One day, her father comes back home. The family is so happy. But, Paka says that Paikea is of no use! So he wants the firstborn son to become the leader. Paikea heard what her grandfather said. She is so shocked. Then she goes back to Germany with her father. But she returns. She likes her grandfather, grandmother and her town so much. Paka’s behavior for Paikea does not change. He can time hard on to the Paikea for a long term.
The climax of the movie is when Paikea come to be whale rider. She is admitted to be the leader by Paka. She can bring to life to a whale as Paikea and other whales. She rides the Paikea and Paikea comes to life and swims out to sea. Paka sees it, and he admits that she is his descendant. What is more, Paikea can find a reiputa which is necklace Paka lost. Reiputa is come down from the ancestors. Finally Paka accepts such a Paikea. And they come back to be good friend.
I really liked this movie because I think that this movie is such a stirring story. I was moved by this movie. I think that Paikea’s heart is so wonderful. I like a girl like Paikea. I think that Paikea has a firm belief. She is so tough girl. I long for Paikea. I want to be tough lady. Thank you. (462 words)
