  YUKI-ONNA (snow-woman)

  About one week ago, I saw a Yuki-Onna in my dream. It was the nightmare. I see dream every night. But, this dream is the most dreadful one. I can remember the story exactly. I will tell you my nightmare story.
  
  In my dream, it was winter. I was climbing the Everest Mountain shivering my body. It was very cold. I aimed the top of Everest. But, I wanted to rest and I found a mountain hut on the way to the top of the mountain. The hut was lighted up by orange light. The hut looks very warm. I enter the hut.
  
  In the hut, there is a beautiful woman. She wore a white knit sweater and had a long black hair. Her face is like Nakama Yukie (famous actress). I said to her that let me take a rest for few hours. She said yes. And I slept the bed of her. In the bed, it was very cold, not warm. When I woke up, I was in a big ice lump. I thought I could never escape from here. I found that the woman was laughing quietly.
  
  This is the story of my nightmare. I analyzed why I saw this nightmare. Maybe, I had forgotten to turn off the air condenser in my room before I fallen asleep. I left the air condenser on. This is the cause of the nightmare. I saw this nightmare and thought that I don’t know the detailed story of Yuki- onna. I looked over about true Yuki-onna story and report you.
  
  Yuki-onna
  
  A long time ago, there were two woodcutters. The one is Minokichi. the other is Mosaku. Minokichi was young man. On the contrary, Mosaku was very old. One winter day, they could not come back home because of a snowstorm. But they found a hut in the mountain and decided to sleep there. On this particular evening, Minokichi woke up and found a beautiful lady with white clothes. She breathed on old Mosaku and he was frozen to death. Then she approached Minokichi in order to breath on him, but then stared at him for a while, and she said: ”I thought I was going to kill you, the same as that old man, but I will not, because you are young and beautiful. You must not tell anyone about this incident. If you tell anyone about me, I will kill you.”
  
  Several years later, Minokichi met a beautiful young lady, named Oyuki (yuki=”snow”) and married her. She was a good wife. Minokichi and Oyuki had several children and lived many years happily. Mysteriously, she did not age at all.
  
  One night, after the children were asleep, Minokichi said to Oyuki: ”whenever I see you, I am reminded of a mysterious incident that happened to me. When I was young, I met a beautiful young lady like you. I do not know whether it was dream or real. But I can say, she was Yuki-onna...”
  
  After finishing his story, Oyuki suddenly stood up and said, “That woman you met was me!! I told you that I would kill you if you ever told anyone about that incident. However, I can’t kill you because of our children. Take care of our children…” Then she melted and disappeared. After that, no one saw her.
  
  This is Yuki-onna story. You should remember to turn off the air condenser of your room before you fall asleep. If you forget it, Yuki-onna will appear in your dream.

  My guitar life

  My hobby is playing the guitar. I play the guitar everyday. To play the guitar is a one part of my life. I will tell you why I started to play the guitar.
  
  When I was 14 years old, junior high school second grade, I watched a live DVD. In this DVD, a handsome man was singing nicely and another man was playing the guitar. When the people watch a music DVD, usually, the people tend to watch the vocalist mostly. But in my case, I couldn’t turn my eyes away from the guitarist’s hands. His hand moved quickly and smoothly. It was a first guitar impact for me. Then I thought that I want to play the guitar like him!!! Their band name is B’z. Do you know them? In their song, you can hear a lot of technical guitar techniques. So, their DVD motivated me to start guitar. At first, I started to get a guitar. I couldn’t afford to buy a guitar. But, luckily, my relative gave me an old acoustic guitar. It was first guitar of my life. Since that day, I played the guitar everyday as soon as I came back from school. When I started to learn to play the guitar, there is no one who can play the guitar around me. No one tells me about guitar. So, I have to do a self-education of guitar. One day, I borrowed a guitar practice book from the library of my town. The first song I learned is “Nagoriyuki”. This is famous folk song in Japan. To practice many songs in this guitar practice book and I learned basic guitar techniques. One day, my friend gave me an electric guitar. Its body was heavier than my first acoustic guitar. It is my second guitar. It’s color was black and has sharp body. It was so cool!! Since then, I started to learn how to play an electric guitar. One day, in the bookstore, I found a nice guitar magazine. Its name is “Young guitar”. That magazine had a DVD as a supplement. The price of this book is about one thousand yen. It is little bit expensive but it has good contents. So, this book is really worth buying. In that DVD, many famous guitarists tell me a lot of guitar techniques like that.

  The contents of this DVD are the second guitar impact for me!! Their hands move quickly. When I watch this DVD, I thought I could never play the guitar like them. But, I imitate them and leaned their techniques step by step and I came to can play like them!!
  
  When I was 16 years old, I bought an electric guitar. Its color is blue and has a beautiful grain of wood. It cost me about hundred thousand yen. This guitar is my main guitar now. This guitar is very thin and it is easy to play. This guitar is very comfortable for me. I cannot live without this guitar!!!
  
  When I was 17 years old, high school second grade, I attend the school festival as a band and played 2 songs. I played the guitar. My two friends played the drums and vocal. My teacher played the bass guitar. We played two songs. “負けないで/Zard and glamorous sky/Mika Nakashima”. It was the best memory of my school life. We played these two songs in front of a lot of students, parents and spectator. I could not help being nervous. My hands were trembled and I felt thirsty. It was basic symptom of strain. But I could play two songs with no mistakes. This experience grew me up.
  
  Now, I am working at Takoyaki shop as part-timer. In there, I am teaching the guitar to my shop’s owner. He likes Yutaka Ozaki (famous, great singer song writer of Japan) and he wanted to play Ozaki’s song. I like Yutaka Ozaki too. He and I hit it off well together. I teach him the guitar techniques after finishing of my part-time job. It is very pleasant time for me. It passed one year since I started to teach the guitar. I like that place too much.
  
  Now, I am planning to change the electric guitar parts. To change this electric parts, the sound of the guitar going better. It will cost me about three million yen. It’s very expensive. I have to work harder to get funs of parts changing.
  
  This is my guitar life. It passed 6 years since I started to play the guitar. Time really flies!! I think that most people haven’t played the guitar. It is too sad for me. I want you to know the joy of playing the guitar. If you haven’t played the guitar, you should play once at least. It will be fun!!!!!

  History of Kumamoto castle

  When I enter the KGU, I wanted to go to sightseeing. I came from Oita and I wanted to know about Kumamoto more. Someday, my friend took me out to visit Kumamoto castle. It was first time for me to visit a castle. When I see Kumamoto castle, I was excited. So, I studied about Kumamoto castle and so on and let me tell you that.
  
  The present Kumamoto castle was built on hilly terrain called Chausu Mountain by Kato Kiyomasa. But there were some other castle on the mountain then. In 1469, Kanokogi Chikakazu built the old kumamoto castle on Chausu Mountain. Nobody knows where it was, but it might have been in the present Kojo town. When the new Kumamoto castle was built, it also changed the Chinese character 隈本城 to 熊本城.
  
  The dungeon of Kumamoto castle was burned to ashes.
  Who set fire to Kumamoto castle? This is a mysterious incident. The opinion that staff officer Gentaro Kodama set fire to Kumamoto castle is the most convicting one. Other possibilities are fire beginning in the Kitchen that it was arson by the Samurai army or that defending army set fire to its own castle and so on.
  
  The Seinan war
  In 1877, the Samurais in Kyushu rose in rebellion against the government. Their leader is Takamori saigo. This war is the last civil war in Japan. In 1877, the government made an announcement called “Haitourei”. It means disposing of swords. Sword was symbol of Samurai. So, it actually meant depriving the samurai of their last privilege. The samurais were angry at it. That is the cause of the Seinan War. After all, the Samurai lost. The cause of the defeat was the failure of the invasion of Kumamoto castle. Then, government army besieged the Samurais. At last, the climate of society turned to liberty to and human rights.
  
  Kato Kiyomasa
  
  He was born in Owari in 1562. He had looked after Toyotomi Hideyoshi since he was a child. He played a big part in the ballet Yamazaki, Shizutake and so on. In 1588, he was given 30 mangoku, half of Higo and he became the castellan of Kumamoto castle. He also worked bravely in the battle made him a very famous samurai. In Sekigahara war, he supported Tokugawa Ieyasu and finally he was given 54 mangoku, all of dominions of Higo.
  
  Musashi Miyamoto
  
  Musashi Miyamoto is famous for fighting with two swords (ni-tou-ryu) and writing “A book of Five Rings”. When he was 57 years old, he came to Kumamoto. And he spent his later year in the Kumamoto castle. He wanted to make the best use of the thing learnt by the kendo for the politics of Kumamoto. When he was 62 years old, he died. The well that he used is still left in Kumamoto castle.
  
  Mushagaeshi
  
  The walls of the castle are made of rocks and are very shape. Nobody can climb it. It was made to knock down enemies. So, enemies were unsure how to take the castle. However, there are another Mushagaeshi in Kumamoto. It is sweet pie. It is famous for souvenir of Kumamoto. I like it!
  
  Kubitake stone
  
  Kumamoto castle has a big stone object called ”Kubitake stone”. Yokoteno Goro brought this big stone from Mt.Hanaoka. He was very strong and brought the stone to Kumamoto by hoisting it on shoulders. This stone’s weight is 18 hundred kilograms. It ended up that Kiyomasa killed him because Goro wanted to kill KatoKiyomasa.
  
  I went to Kumamoto castle three times in the past. How many did you visit Kumamoto castle before? If you haven’t been there before, you should go there. It must be exciting!!
